I have come to work in counseling later in life after experiencing my own mental health challenges and significant life transitions. I view most client issues through a developmental, biological, and social perspective, believing that most behaviors and conditions are not pathological, but rather what would be expected in the client’s situation, in other words, “not what’s wrong with you, but what happened to you.”

I take a non-judgmental and holistic-integrated approach, committed to the notion that we cannot separate mind, soul, and body when it comes to wellness and mental health. I believe in a person-centered approach to therapy, with the client as a co-equal in a shared journey toward self-efficacy, resilience, and a life worth living. I have learned that each client presents his/her/their own unique set of circumstances, history, proclivities, etc., and that an integrative approach (using and/or combining different therapeutic modalities) offers the most flexibility and likelihood of achieving therapeutic goals.
