Therapy Scholarship Program
Eligibility
Eligible individuals are residents of Gunnison County and do not have Medicaid or private insurance will be eligible for the mental health funding program. Other eligibility requirements are those who:
- Have a very high co pay or high deductible plan without co pay
- No in network providers in county
- All in network providers covered by insurance are full and not taking new clients
- Prior existing relationship with therapist for four or more sessions
- Have researched a form of specialty care and demonstrate need
- Individuals who feel isolated, hopeless, and have no means of paying for mental health services.
Beneficiaries may be denied benefits if they are:
- Currently in crisis
- Has insurance or an alternate payer source
Scholarship Process
- Scholarship eligibility is determined (this can take place over the phone)
- CB State of Mind will always look to utilize other payment options FIRST (like insurance, Medicaid, employer insurance, EAPs) before they issue a scholarship. Staff are trained to help you investigate other payer sources and will do this during your interview.
- Crisis Evaluation
- Beneficiaries may be denied benefits if they are currently in crisis
- Scholarship Application is completed
- Get connected with a therapist
- Complete evaluation survey
Eligible individuals are residents of Gunnison County and do not have Medicaid or private insurance.
Exception Criteria: When we can offer a scholarship even if the person has insurance
- If the client has a high deductible plan or a high copay
- If there is a long wait (3+ weeks) with provider that takes their insurance
- If the client has seen their chosen therapist 4 or more times (established relationship)
- If the client needs specialty care such as post-partum or trauma-specific
